WP5: System architecture for open solutions for freight transport
This activity within SMARTFREIGHT aims to provide a total picture of smarter freight transport in urban areas by specifying conceptual, logical and technical aspects of generic and open solutions that support the planning and implementation of new solutions in European cities. This includes:
- the overall concept and the roles of the stakeholders involved
- the functionalities needed by the different roles to support smarter freight transport solutions
- the information to be exchanged between the roles
- the open ICT services and how they support the functionality and the required information exchange
- the implementation of the services by means of a wireless infrastructure based on the CALM technology in roadside and in-vehicle equipment.
Work Package 5 consists of five main tasks:
- conceptual aspects and required functionality
- information supporting smarter freight transport
- open services for urban freight transport
- specification of implementation by means of CALM
- coordination with other architecture activities
